During the visit, the team learned just how much these tiny pollinators contribute to both nature and people:

• They produce powerful medicinal honey prized for its health benefits and used in traditional and modern remedies alike.
• They’re expert pollinators for cocoa, mangoes, cashews, and many other crops that Ghanaian farmers and the wider economy depend on and when it comes to cocoa, stingless bees are considered the best pollinators of all, playing a vital role in Ghana’s most important cash crop.
• They nest in healthy trees making their presence a natural indicator of a thriving, well-forested ecosystem.

And unlike their more famous relatives, stingless bees offer no sting , just pure goodness for nature and people.

The health of stingless bee populations is closely tied to the health of Ghana’s forests. Where trees are cut down and habitats disappear, these pollinators lose the nesting sites they need to survive — and with them, the pollination services that crops and ecosystems rely on. This is one more reason why reforestation and forest protection matter so deeply: healthy trees mean healthy bees, and healthy bees mean a healthy Ghana.

World Bee Day is a moment to pause and appreciate the small creatures doing enormous work behind the scenes. For Earth Care Ghana, the visit to the International Stingless Bee Centre was a reminder that conservation isn’t only about the trees we plant — it’s about protecting the whole web of life that depends on them, pollinators included.

Let’s protect their habitats. Healthy bees mean a healthy Ghana.
